Life of Pi Wins Big at Oscars

Ang Lee's Life of Pi was the big winner at last night's Academy Awards ceremony. The film, which is based on Canadian author Yann Martel's 2001 novel, won four of the eleven awards it was nominated for, including best original score, best cinematography, best visual effects and best director for Lee. During his acceptance speech, Lee thanked Martel for writing his "incredible, inspiring book."

Since the film's release, Martel's novel has sold more than 1.5 million copies. Prior to this, Life of Pi had reportedly sold more than nine million copies worldwide.
