Todd Babiak Shortlisted for Alberta Literary Award

Todd Babiak's latest novel, The Book of Stanley (McClelland & Stewart), has been shortlisted for an Alberta Literary Award in the Georges Bugnet Award for a Novel category. Congratulations Todd! Todd was Open Book's first Writer in Residence in September 2007. The Alberta Literary Awards are administered by The Writers Guild of Alberta. Jurors selected 21 finalists for seven categories. The winners will be announced on June 7 and awards will be presented at the Royal Alberta Museum in Edmonton. The other nominees in the Georges Bugnet Award for a novel are Nina Newington for Where Bones Dance (The University of Wisconsin Press) and Darcy Tamayose for Odori (Cormorant Books). Curtis Gillespie receives an Honourable Mention for Crown Shyness (Brindle & Glass).
