The Willow Awards

Each year the Saskatchewan Young Readers' Choice Willow Awards are presented to Canadian books voted by students to be the best of those nominated. The awards are divided into three categories: Shining Willow (K-3), Diamond Willow (4-6) and Snow Willow (7-9).

Several Toronto-based authors have works vying for a 2012 Willow Award. Fitzhenry & Whiteside is excited to have not one, but two such authors nominated. Tooter's Stinky Wish by Brian Cretney and illustrated by Peggy Collins is up for the 2012 Shining Willow Award and No Small Victory by Connie Brummel Crook has been nominated for the 2012 Diamond Willow Award.

Other nominated works by Toronto authors include This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel (HarperCollins) for a Snow Willow Award and I Know Here by Laurel Croza and illustrated by Matt James (Groundwood Books) for a Shining Willow Award.

The 2012 Willow Awards Gala will be held in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on April 27, 2012.
